Join us in discovering the ecological wonders of the Santa Cruz Mountains! We will continue to upload more photos, so please visit again soon. All the photos on this website were taken in the Santa Cruz Mountains and their offshore waters.

Our mission is twofold: to research and document the changing biogeography of the Santa Cruz Mountains, and to help land stewards and the public learn the ecology of the lands they manage.

About Us

Bert, Judy, and Tristan McKee have resided on the South Coast of San Mateo County for over twenty years. Bert has decades of experience in nature study, land management, and technical writing, and he is our primary photographer. Judy, when she is not working to improve the lives of local youth, has studied art, landscape design, and human ecology. Tristan has studied the ecology of the Santa Cruz Mountains for the past twenty years and has worked on ornithology and botany projects in Peru, on Midway Atoll, and throughout Northern California. He has written for various ornithological publications.
